Croydon Short Breaks Statement Survey

Good Afternoon,

Croydon is in the process of updating its Short Breaks Statement.  This document will provide young people, parents and carers with information on:

*           The range of short breaks services provided in Croydon
*           Who can access short breaks
*           How to access short breaks
*           How short breaks are designed to meet the needs of disabled children/young people and their parents/carers

We would like to hear your thoughts about the draft Short Breaks Statement, your feedback is very valuable to us and will be used to help develop the Short Breaks Statement and ensure we have a service that meets the needs of children and young people.

Please click here to view the document and complete the survey on the Croydon Get Involved page to provide your feedback.  This engagement process will be open for 6 weeks (18th February to 6th April 2019).

Thank you in advance for any feedback provided.

Merry Christmas One and All! 2018

This year the theme for the Christmas play was Red Gates Radio.  Each class paired up with another and chose a music genre to perform to.

The play was opened by our amazing Red Gates Rockers, performing Jingle Bells and Santa Claus is Coming to Town and was closed by our fabulous Choir, performing We are the Children of Red Gates School and We Wish You a Merry Christmas

DJ Santa (played by Khalid) introduced each act which started off with Class Rose and Class Teal performing to Rock and Roll music.  We then had Classes Amethyst and Lilac presenting Classical, Classes Magenta and Sky presenting Disco, Classes Cyan and Aqua presenting Rock and Roll, Classes Royal and Violet presenting Soul, Classes Jade and Turquoise presenting Reggae, Classes Mint and Fuchsia presenting Pop, Classes Coral and Lime presenting Country and Classes Emerald and Navy presenting RnB.

We performed on Tuesday to our neighbours, Gilbert Scott School and on Wednesday to our parents, carers and friends.

The children and staff worked so hard to put this performance together and it was a hit with everyone that attended.

Merry Christmas from all the children and staff at Red Gates!

Getting in the Christmas Spirit

We would like to thank Knights Garden Centre, Chelsham and Woldingham for providing us, free of charge, with our school Christmas tree.

The school committee members received the tree from the Garden Centre and had fun putting on the decorations and making it look beautiful.

Haven't they done a fantastic job!

You can received a 10% off voucher for purchasing your own real Christmas tree.

Music Mark School Member 2019!

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to the music department for becoming a Music Mark member.

In order to become a member, the school needs to be nominated by their local music education hub/service and they need to meet the relevant criteria.   The criteria includes: -

  • Evidence of willingness to engage in development conversations related to improving music provisions.
  • Recognition of the value of music education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum
  • A strategy for music in place which provides for all children.

Music Mark works to enable our members, and the wider music education sector, to deliver high quality musical and social outcomes for all children and young people.

We have been recognised for all the hard work we do to ensure that pupils at school are able to access and engage with high-quality music education and for our dedication to offering and delivering a broad and balance curriculum.

“Music Mark believes in the fundamental right to experience a high-quality music education for all children and young people, in and out of their schools.” Bridget Whyte, Chief Executive
